Development Programme for Director/Producer/Writer
Parents and Carers in the English Regions

CLOSR (Closer to Home) is a response to our 2016 Making it Possible survey, which found two consistent barriers for parents and carers looking to attend networking and career development sessions: a lack of time, and the cost of childcare.

With the support of the Creative England, Raising Films is launching a personal and network development pilot scheme for writers, directors and producers based in the English regions (outside Greater London). It will be delivered online and at family-friendly times.

The scheme offers 36 participants 12 weekly online group and 1-2-1 sessions, plus an overnight event in June (with childcare provided) where there will be opportunity to meet peers, the programme coaches and a range of industry experts. Participants will then have 10 further weeks to develop their network and their projects independently, working towards a short review with the CLOSR team.

The aims of the programme are to clarify individual career objectives; expand regional networks/collaborators; and develop projects with peer and expert feedback.

The programme starts on 1st May and will conclude in October 2017. Participants must have the appropriate internet connection, hardware and software to participate in online sessions.

Successful applicants will be asked to contribute just £100 towards the cost of the programme, thanks to the generous support of Creative England. We are extremely grateful to Directors UK for their support of this pilot, as well as Pact. and WGGB, who are all offering hardship grants for candidates who are unable to afford the £100.

Guidelines and application forms can be found in the free-to-join Raising Films Members area.

DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS: FRIDAY 21ST APRIL 2017 (5.00PM)
