Raising Films is committed to safeguarding the privacy of our community and supporters. This privacy policy outlines how we may collect, use and protect your data. We process personal data only in strict compliance with the Data Protection Act 1998 (DPA), Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), General Data Protection Regulation 25 May (GDPR) and other relevant legislation.

Using personal information allows us to develop a better understanding of our community and supporters and, in turn, provide you with relevant and timely information about our work, events and campaigning activity.

WHAT INFORMATION WE COLLECT

We collect personal data when:

  • You sign-up through our website to join our email list, we store the personal information you have provided such as your name, email address, area of work area and location/region.
  • You attend a Raising Films event or a partner event when we may collect other sensitive personal data such as allergies, disability or access needs. We collect it to cater to your needs or act in your interest, and we will only use this data in line with the running of the event. If you are involved in a Raising Films event, training course or other event we may collect photographs, videos or audio recordings. You will be able to opt-out at the event.
  • You visit our website, we collect information about how you interact with our content. When we send you an email newsletter we store a record of this and we keep a record of which newsletters you have opened and which links you have clicked on.
  • You participate in our online development and training programmes (e.g. Making It Possible). We collect personal data in line with our funding requirements and the requirements of eligibility to participate. More detailed information on how we process this personal data is published on our website when programmes are open to submissions.

We store personal data under strict safekeeping and confidentiality measures on secure servers operated by Raising Films and stored securely through a Business Account on DropBox, our cloud storage service provider, Airtable, our database solution and Mailchimp, our electronic marketing provider.

To facilitate participation in online development and training programmes we use Slack as our communication platform.

DropBox’s systems are housed at third-party subservice organisation data centres located in the United States or Germany. Dropbox is designed with multiple layers of protection, including secure data transfer, encryption, network configuration and application-level controls distributed across a scalable, secure infrastructure. Full information about Dropbox security measures can be accessed here.

Airtable data is encrypted using 256-bit SSL/TLS and 256-bit AES encryption. Full information about Airtable’s security can be accessed here.

Only approved and authorised Raising Films staff who need to process your data will have access to it.

The information we hold will be accurate and up-to-date within our knowledge.

Raising Films receives public funding from the British Film Institute (BFI), Creative Scotland, ScreenSkills and Directors UK. We are therefore required to share personal data with our funders for reporting and evaluation purposes.
